DTC    B1634/81    Lost Communication with Driver Side Rear Sensor Bus

DESCRIPTION

The circuit for the driver side rear side collision sensor (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly and driver side rear airbag sensor.
The driver side rear airbag sensor detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1634/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the driver side rear side collision sensor (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) and driver side rear airbag sensor.

    OK:
    The connectors are properly connected.

2.CHECK CONNECTORS

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) and driver side rear airbag sensor.

  1. Check that the connectors (on the driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) side and driver side rear airbag sensor side) are not damaged.

    OK:
    The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

3.CHECK DRIVER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (FOR REAR SIDE)

  1. Interchange the passenger side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) with driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) and connect the connectors to them.

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 and 1 of connector C.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

5.CHECK DRIVER SIDE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
